In the wake of OiNK's unfortunate demise, I have been hopelessly bereft of new music. Yeah-- I could buy music but ... I don't quite remember how to do that. And-- why start now? And yeah-- I could download music from another torrent tracker. But ... ilk. Mis-named, low quality, and the endless, thankless leeching ... Frankly, I'd rather not.
But, as a phoenix from the ashes, a successor has risen from OiNK's crumbled ruins. And that successor's name is ... Waffles. Yes, Waffles. Like Lollerwaffles, but more like the round grids of goodness, and less like lollerskates. Waffles.fm, to be precise. Unfortunately, like its predecessor, Waffles is invite only. And I can't get a fricken invite.
Now, for former OiNK users, there's an email address where you can send proof of your OiNK membership to get an OiNK invite. Unfortunately, as of a week ago, that email address was flooded with 8,000+ emails. I may actually get an invite some day ... but I'm not holding my breath.
Instead, I've taken to lurking on #waffles.fm-chat (on irc.p2p-networks.net). Waiting, and hoping.
In the mean time, I've started a vigil. A waffle vigil, to be precise. Here, brave world, I make my decree:
Until such a time that I am a Waffles.fm member in good standing, I shall eat waffles for breakfast. I shall eat waffles only, at the exclusion of all other breakfast foods. I shall not eat bagels, not shall I eat granola, nor Poptarts, nor oatmeal. Waffles, and waffles alone, are to be my source of breakfast nourishment and sustenance.
My hope is that my daily communion with waffles will bring me good fortune--and bring attention to the plight of the many thousands of us dispossessed--without invites, and without homes for our daily music fix. Hear me, oh gods of Waffles! Listen to my plea! Take my daily offering of WAFFLES, bless and consecrate it, and bring a manifold blessing upon all of us who wait!
